Today in the Korean news they are reporting that Mi Hyun Kim will appear via a sponsor's invite at this year's Ha Na Bank Championship -- and that she will retire after that.
Apparently she has suffered from a severe left ankle injury that hasn't healed. It was caused by the pressure put on it due to her massive overswing. She needed to get a doctor's permission to play the event, so it doesn't sound like she will be playing too well. But she wanted to play one final event before bowing out.
So long, Super Peanut! With you and Grace both retiring, this really is the end of an era. But she should be proud that she has helped create this incredible Korean golf boom. In fact, she intends to continue to teach juniors and foster growth in the game through her Mi Hyun Kim golf centers in South Korea. _________________ Celebrating the Korean players on the LPGA

Hi, all! I don't really post too much in forums anymore, this one or any others. But I thought there might be some folks here who might like my tribute to Peanut here: Mi-Hyun Kim, A Tribute To A Retiring LPGA Star | Fairways and Forehands
...plus, if I made any mistakes, I'm sure Seoul Sister fans will point them out (and please do, I would hate my tribute piece to Peanut to have false information) _________________ Don't fear failure. — Not failure, but low aim, is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail.

Thanks, Bobby.
God bless you, Peanut. You're the reason I became a fan of the LPGA. Be happy and live well. |

Sharing the moment with Hyo Joo Kim, who makes her pro debut the same tournament as Kimmie makes her last appearance

I haven't been on here in years!
I was incredibly saddened to hear Mi Hyun was retiring, but I'm glad to hear she seems to be alright with it.
Mi Hyun and Grace retiring? I must be getting old... _________________ “I might not be competing as a professional golfer, but I realize over the past 20 years that I did it because I love this game.” - Grace Park

Kimmie leaves without quite landing that major. Her biggest victory was the 2006 Ginn which earned her $375,000. It definitely was her biggest trophy.
She never did break the top ten in career earnings, darn it. |

Still one of my favorite Peanut pix (for those who don't know, that's a trophy she's holding!)
