This is a limited field event for the top thirty players on the LET, ten other professionals (not sure of selection criteria) and two amateurs.
After starting with a bogey on the first hole Amy then went on to get five birdies for an opening round of four under par; putting her in fifth place on her own - two shots off the lead held by Kirsty Taylor.
Pairings in all rounds are on performance and Amy gets the reward of being in the antepenultimate pairing at 14.00 (Madrid time) for the second round.
A good result in Madrid could have Amy closing in on Helen Alfredsson who is leading the LET money list (316,875.00 from Evian win) but not playing this week:
Helen Alfredsson (SWE) - 320,099.74
Gwladys Nocera (FRA) - 282,604.93
Martina Eberl (GER) - 218,836.20
Amy Yang (KOR) - 202,449.73 |

It looks like it was a tough day at the office for the players in Madrid with only three players breaking par in the second round.
An even par round (four birdies, two bogeys and a double) was good enough to get Amy moved up from fifth to tied second (with Paula Marti); at one stage Amy had moved up to six under and held a one shot lead but unfortunately lost it with a double bogey at the fourteenth.
Amy, at four under, is now just one shot off the lead which is held by Gwladys Nocera who had the round of the day.
I’m not sure of the pairing rules, but as Amy was one shot better than Paula Marti for the round today I think that should put her into the final pairing for round 3, however as Paula is Spanish local politics might influence that. |

Nocera vs. Yang would be a much sweeter pairing, given that they've been two of the strongest golfers all year on that tour. Good luck this weekend, Amy!! _________________ Celebrating the Korean players on the LPGA

Round 3 pairings - Amy is in the final pairing with Gwladys Nocera at 10.15 (Madrid time)
From the post match interviews - the fourteenth hole where Amy had her double is the highest and most exposed hole on the course, she lost her balance in the wind, hit her ball into a bush and had to take an unplayable, she needed to single putt to make double. |

From the live scoring monitor (main LET site has been down all day), round 3 was a bit of a mishmash for Amy, a level par round (five birdies, five bogeys & eight pars) on moving day had her moving in the wrong direction.
This resulted in her falling back to tied sixth, seven shots off the lead held by Gwladys Nocera who is four shots clear of the pack.
The main chasing pack of eight players (including Amy) are within three shots of each other and it looks like they are playing for second place – however as nothing is really certain in golf keep your fingers crossed.
Edit (a few hours later)
The LET site is operational again & I've just realised it's only a three round tournament
So final result - Amy finished tied sixth.
Second edit
The LET takes a break now until November, hopefully Amy may get into some LPGA tournaments during this break.
Amy is entered for both of the final tournaments on LET schedule which are:
14th November - Korean Ladies Masters
11th December - Dubai Ladies Masters |

Amy has a blog just posted on LPGA.com and she's philosophical about her lack of opportunities to play on the tour. She puts it down as a learning experience and looks forward to Q School and earn that exempt card. _________________ It is golf. Gotta problem with that? |
