Mi-Jeong Jeon returns to defend last season's playoff victory (her second win in a row at the time!) at the Vernal Ladies in Fukuoka this week. The field is packed and the list is in Japanese and English on the tournament site (at least for the featured 18 players):

Going by the stats comparison with the LPGA, it looks like it would be easier to do a Pakpicker on the JLPGA!

Ji-Yai Shin would be 6th on the JLPGA money list, by the way, if she had been a member when she won. Hound Dog figured out that a non-member win there gives you immediate membership. So based on her runner-up finish last week, she's 17th! I wonder if she'll play in all the JLPGA majors this season? And, as Eric mentioned on the Salonpas Cup thread, I wonder if she'd rather join Jeon, Song, Shin, and Lee (among many others Koreans on the JLPGA) for a season or two before heading over to the LPGA full-time? |

Eun-A Lim's 65 puts her 3 shots up on Kayo Yamada, 4 shots on Miki Saiki, Akiko Fukushima, and Yuri Fudoh, and 5 shots on Bo-Bae Song and Ji-Hee Lee. Mi-Jeong Jeon is T54 after an opening 75, but she's in good company--lots of big names blew up.... |

It's interesting that Eun Ah Lim, a KLPGA mainstay, is choosing to play in Japan this week instead of the Korean Women's Open... I wonder why? _________________ Celebrating the Korean players on the LPGA

| She's been playing all the JLPGA events I've seen, not that I was looking that closely. |

Bo-Bae Song (2 back) and Ji-Hee Lee (4 back) are among the few keeping pace with Eun-A Lim (-8) this week! Also 4 back are Akiko Fukushima and Yukari Baba. The front 9 tomorrow will determine if this turns out to be a Lim-Song showdown, a 5-player race to the finish, or a free-for-all! With some very very good players shooting very very high rounds this week, anything can happen.... |
