Major time again! This is the official PakPicker thread for the 64th United States Women's Open. Choose wisely: your 12 selections and 3 alternates should be in no later that 12:01am EDT Thursday 9 July 2009.
Happy PakPicking, everybody!

Some players work towards rounding into form for the majors. I can't be said to have actually been doing the same, but on form one might think otherwise. Picking those players who are coming into this week with momentum is key to scoring in the PakPicker.
Will we have another Pressel "Oh, No!" moment like Cherry Hill in '05? Probably not from Pressel herself, but hopefully an Open lacking in some of the more familiar names will have enough drama to make up for their absence. I will try to make the drive down for Sunday's finale.
As for the other big developing story this week: don't expect much to be announced while the Tour is on the USGA's turf, as it were. That's not to say that things aren't going on behind the scenes regarding the future direction of the LPGA and who should be leading it.
Now let's see if I can keep this streak going and possibly nab a major title:
1. Pressel
2. Kim, Song Hee
3. Shin, Ji Yai
4. Pettersen
5. Ochoa
6. Tseng
7. Kerr
8. Kim, In-Kyung
9. Alfredsson
10. Stanford, Angela
11. Pak, Se Ri
12. Song, Jennifer (USWAPL champ and my pick for Low Amateur)
Alt: Creamer; Miyazato, Ai; Oh, Ji Young
Just as a side bet (but repeating Dave Letterman's admonition "NO WAGERING!") please also pick who you think will be Low Amateur. It doesn't have to be among your main selections; it could be mentioned separately but with so many to choose from I thought it would be fun to include that this week.

There are 2 (TWO) Stanford's playing in the US OPEN, both Tracy and Angela have qualified & 2 (TWO) Feng's - both Shan shan and Yu eer (Cindy) have qualified and 2 (TWO) Shin's as both Ji Yai and Michelle have also qualified so now you need to designate your Stanford's, Feng's, and Shin's as well as your Kim's, Park's, Lee's, Choi's, Cho's and Kang's...etc
Oh -- forgot... 2 Miyazato's and 2 Song's have also qualified and have entered in the 09 OPEN
Point is make your selections very carefully this week |
